Red Bull wanted to reward its drinkers and those on its mobile phone tariffs. As part of the Red Bull MOBILE Collect program consumers could earn energy from codes under the ring pulls on the cans, which could then be redeemed for amazing once-in-a-life-time experiences.
Short, Concise:
To make users lives easier Red Bull wanted to find a way for users to simply scan the code with their phone to automatically enter the code and earn the ENERGY. Makes a lot of sense, but was harder than you think due to the issues around the font, the position, and the level of accuracy that's needed to ensure that only the unique code was entered. The end result was a slicker method for users to collect the codes.
Physical and Digital:
As part of our work in development of the Collect programme we worked with Red Bull to review and assess the different options and technologies, resulting in the selection of 9Yards as the preferred platform. The issues were not straight forward, due to the location of the unique can codes the only printing method being an engraved dot-matrix font!
