Designing short interactive VR experiences for family entertainment venues
Mayan Temple
Compelling content:
Taking on the task of designing an Out-Of-Home VR experience for use in areas such as malls, or family entertainment venues, we designed an experience based on descending through a Mayan Temple. The objective was to provide an experience that would be enjoyable, a little bit scary in places, but overall fun to go through.

We collaborated with A.I. Solve to create this OOH VR experience, which needed to be contained within a 3 metre by 3 metre grid. The player takes up the role of an explorer entering a Mayan Temple in the hopes of finding treasure and unlocking the mysteries which lie deep within the ancient ruins.

Short, Concise:
As an experience, it need to last no more than 5 minutes, but still provide enough entertainment and interest, whilst allowing users to move through at their own pace. It's a fine balance in providing enough puzzles and interactive elements for all users, whilst keeping the overall user time in the experience to an average of 5 minutes to maximise the number of users through the experience.
Physical and Digital:
The real difference to a lot of home based VR games is the game design around real physical movement, within the space. With the gameplay, we heavily focused on making the user really feel like they were there by having their movement in the real physical world mapped to the digital VR experience. Working very closely with the VR technology provider Ai solve and supporting their production team we designed and directed the gameplay that offers maximum engagement with unexpected twists and surprises to player.

This ground-breaking out of home game is intended for delivery as a 5-minute gaming experience and is now available from Ai solve in malls and destination venues. This innovative game highlights the realism and excitement VR can offer when used in a physical environment created out of the home. This will be the first of many, out of home gaming experiences Ai Solve and mFuzed will be working on for retail and mall partners in 2017.
